Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have the best techie students who are full of energy and excited to learn about technology. They enjoy when we get creative, changing things up by doing class activities/projects that are hands on. They are a pretty diverse group of kids with different backgrounds and cultures. My kids have the potential to be someone amazing when they grow up, they just need the extra resources and tools to accomplish it, especially the technology! My school is an incredible charter school that cares about the students and teachers. While they ensure the kids receive the necessary materials, we need some help, especially after Hurricane Irma, in ensuring they get extra resources that will let them have a more hands on experience. When my students enter the room I want them to be encourage to strive for their best, continue to be enthusiastic and happy with STEM related projects in tech class, and have access to the latest technology that will inspire their future careers.
My Project
My awesome students need resources for our classrooms. We have been learning about the internal components of computers in the tech lab but have limited equipment to actually build them. During class we work just with the casings and a few parts because we have not acquired the rest of the components, as well as the last remaining parts of our VR system.
This is why I figure the power supplies would be a great donation so that they may use them to make the PC's they build work after finishing the assembly.
The computers are an attention grabber for students to love the technology world. It would be a thrill to access equipment that some will only ever hear about.
If this project is funded, I know it will make a difference to my students because it will inspire them to learn more about technology that would normally make them think was too complex or accessible. It will allow them the opportunity to do something productive by using the power supplies to assemble the computers rather than just playing a game. I personally think that this will really make the parents and students excited about our classroom projects because it is adding more creative technology to our classroom.
