My 5th grade classroom is a place for students not only to grow and learn but to feel safe and secure. COVID-19 has caused changes for all of us, and it has affected our children greatly.
Our small pre-k - 5th school is nestled between two mountains, in a rural mining community, with a total student count of 298.
Many students are experiencing economic hardship at this time. Internet connection is spotty, with one of the only Wi-Fi hotspots being the school parking lot.
We need tools to help us succeed at home and school such as hands on technology and accessories, manipulatives, paper, and other common supplies.
This year has affected our students and their futures.
By contributing to our project, you are becoming an important part of our classroom, and we thank you!
My Project
These power pen learning cards will help my class with their basic fact fluency. Due to the constraints of the last couple of school years, we really need tp strengthen that area. I already have the pens from teaching a different grade, but need appropriate materials.
While the power pen cards will help fact fluency, sentence strips will help my students learn sight words and vocabulary.
The magnetic holders will hold the sight words to the board.
The greenery based decor will help provide a calm learning environment for my sweet students. I try to provide a feeling of home, of acceptance, and of love on my room. These will help set the stage for a “homey” feel.
