Kindergarten and first grade are so much fun! I teach kindergarten and first grade at a magnet school in North Carolina. I looped with my class, so this is my first year with a new group of precious kindergartners!
I have the privilege of teaching children at the age when they are eager to learn.
This window of opportunity lasts for a short period of time, and it is up to me to motivate students in a way that will encourage them to be lifelong learners.
This year is unlike any other, due to COVID-19. We are engaging in concurrent instruction, with some students in the classroom and some learning remotely. I want my students to have the best experience possible even with these unusual circumstances. This is kindergarten, after all, a time for joyful learning!
My Project
Kindergarten students learn best through hands-on exploration and play.
The requested materials will engage my young students in creative play and exploration, while strengthening their literacy and math skills.
With the social distancing requirements in place due to Covid-19, I need a large variety of materials for students to use individually during math, reading, and discovery center times. These materials will allow my students to learn through play, which is how they learn best!
They will explore counting, patterns, and sorting using the translucent bugs, pattern blocks, and dominoes on a light table.
Children will develop decoding and encoding skills using the word making games.
Students will grow in creativity and fine motor skills while using the Playstix, light board, and community people.
Thank you so much for supporting my kindergarten students and helping them thrive during these challenging times!
