I am a K-5 technology teacher at Marshall Elementary School in San Francisco. We are a Title I school and 75% of our students qualify for free or reduced lunch.
We have been working on many technology projects this year at Marshall Elementary: newsletters, electronic stories, and personal digital stories. Many of these projects are new experiences for us, and as we're in the midst of them, we realize we lack some of the resources that help bring the final projects to fruition.
A Memories Project I would like to have our kindergartners and first graders do requires them to interview someone older (of another generation) and to ask them about their memories of school. They would also need to take a picture of the person they interview to bring to school. I would like to be able to lend them digital cameras to use without worrying about them being lost or broken.
I am requesting 5 inexpensive digital cameras that could go home with students for this project and others we are working on. These cameras will be used by all K-5 students for the various projects at school, as many do not have access to digital cameras at home.
