Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students attend elementary school in a low-income area in the city of Inglewood, CA. My students come from various backgrounds. Most of my students’ families work multiple jobs just to make ends meet. My students show that neediness in their clothing, lack of resources, and need for foundational skill support.
My students are eager and enthusiastic learners even though they reside in an impoverished area of Los Angeles County.
They are happy to arrive to school and receive the love and support from their learning community. They are special to me because they are genuinely excited to come to school every day to learn. This group of students is part of a dual language program and they are learning to be biliterate, bicultural, and bilingual.
My Project
The materials will bring longevity to our classroom technology. The iPad cases will allow students to use our iPads without the fear of damaging them if they accidentally drop them. The cases will make our technology not only impact this group of students but students for years to come. The charging station and cables are essential. It's difficult finding enough power plugs in a classroom. With the station we can maximize one plug and charge all our technology in one place. The students will be able to keep the iPads organized in the slots and since they station has USB ports I can use it to power and charge other devices.
