My Students

My students are full of untapped potential and I want to help them succeed not only educationally, but in life. These students each have unique disabilities, and some of them have very little support out of the classroom. I believe that a disability does not define an individual, and that each one of these students has the ability to succeed and progress. They are all caring, creative, and full of hope for a bright future. This is a unique classroom that ranges from 7-12th grade adaptive life skills, as well as an adult transition program for individuals with disabilities-8-21.

My Project

My goal is to change Special Education in my school. Several of my students are still learning to read, and we do not have the right books at the moment. These materials will not only help them learn this important skill, they will also enable these wonderful students to access so many important parts of daily life including reading safety and street signs, menus, and books for education and leisure. They also need more opportunities to practice essential life skills such as cooking and cleaning up after themselves. These items will enable my students to access the education that they need and deserve.
