Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is considered a Title 1 school where our students are mostly of migrant backgrounds. They have families that are part of our community and only want what is best for their students. They attend after school classes to help in subject areas and really try hard to be involved in the classroom. The students come to us with little or no English skills but are willing to work very hard to do their best in school. As a teacher we have an uphill battle as we improve their English and work on teaching the grade level standards, but our students are up for it.
My Project
In our school, our students are 1:1 on chromebooks for grades 3-5.
These technology tools will help my students enhance their learning by allowing them to access certain features on the chromebook.
This will make using the district adopted materials easier to access as well. It will also allow a few of my students who have some learning disabilities become more independent when using their chromebook in the classroom. The stand up desk allows students to have more flexibility with how they use the technology and to be in a more comfortable position. I do already have one stand up desk that is extremely popular so a second one will be even better.
