Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My school is a Title I school. As a teacher in a low-income/high-poverty school district, my students are faced with many different challenges in and out of the school. Besides these challenges, I am looking to provide each of them with enough appropriate tools to lead them to success. All of my students get free breakfast and free lunch.

I am willing to provide, each day, the best learning environment for each and every one of them.

I have many newcomers who come from Guatemala, Mexico, Honduras, El Salvador, and Nicaragua. My students do not have a chance at home to have a learning environment. That is why I need to ensure that my classroom has the resources to expand their learning opportunities.

I may not be able to control their home lives, however, I can certainly control their experience during the school day to help them maximize their knowledge.

My Project

Having these two materials will help me make and create better resources for my students.

I would be able to laminate and label things in the classroom in different languages.

This will help newcomer students to improve their language skills. Getting these materials will also help me protect and reuse some of the working sheets we use in class.

Having the opportunity to label things in the classroom make students learn how to be more organized. They can also use the language they feel more comfortable with to read those labels.
