Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are growing up in a major city in our state. Per capita, this city has been rated in the top five most dangerous cities in the past fifteen years. Drugs, poverty, homelessness and gun violence have wreaked havoc on this once thriving city and my students are living in the midst of this chaos. They are constantly given the message that they are not good enough for state-of-the-art technology, top line resources, and comfortable classrooms.
The lack of resources affects the students every day.
My students need to believe that people are looking out for them and want them to succeed. Every day they strive to broaden their horizons and reach for the stars. For many, school is the only safe haven they know. I work to instill in them that there is a bigger world out there than the one they see every day, that they matter, and they will always have a safe place to explore the world around them in our classroom.
My Project
With these rolls of poster paper, my students will be able to produce amazing exhibitions for their science and history classes. We have high expectations for our students, it is time to help give them the materials they needs to be as amazing as they can be.
Providing students with the materials, such as this poster paper, will help my students develop high quality exhibitions and project sot they can compete on the same level as kids in other districts.
Our students will be able to produce museum quality exhibits, and amazing science exhibits as they compete in city, county, state and other competitions beyond that.
