Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are always a delight. They live in a lower-income area. For example, 90 percent get free/reduced price lunches. Unfortunately, I am not able to get everything they need that will enrich their learning experience.
Throughout the years, I have noticed more and more students with attention issues and poor social skills.
So my goal has been to provide a positive, self-motivating environment where they can learn at their own pace while collaborating with their peers.
One of my previous students was a catalyst for this donation program when he shared his desire to write our Superintendent requesting flexible seating instead of regular desks and chairs. He listed the health and educational benefits.
So now I am requesting healthier options of seating for my students that will provide choice and movement.
My Project
Help me give my fifth-grade students a welcoming classroom filled with helpful flexible seating options that will promote engagement and collaboration.
I requested this wonderful dry erase table for a few reasons.
The first reason is to serve as a standing table. This will help cut down the amount of time my students stay seated and will provide more movement. Another reason is because of the dry-erase top. This will provide a quick place for students to show their thinking while working with partners.
The convertible bench/table will be a great addition to our library area. I can already picture students enjoying a good book or working with partners.
