This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

COVID-19 has unfortunately taken away many of the social highlights of high school for my students. They have had nearly 3 years now of online, hybrid, or in person classes that have had to focus on their health and safety. Sometimes this meant foregoing the socialization and warmth of classrooms.

As in-person classes become the norm, we can safely transition back to having warm & inviting classrooms.

These materials will help welcome students with the supplies they need to succeed, as well as supplies to keep the classroom safe and an exciting place to be.

The disinfectant sprayer will allow me to more quickly get the classroom clean for the next period. The lamps and posters will help in creating a warm classroom environment. Much of my students' still have online work, and their laptops cannot make it through the day without a charge - this is where the extension cords will help. I often have to purchase notebooks, folders, pens, batteries, and pencils myself at the beginning of each year. Having those items as a part of this project ensures that students have the basic items to be successful. The content books will help give me resources to help get kids caught up on some of the knowledge they may be behind in from years of disruption and trauma.
