My students need innovative mediums to communicate with one another and express their brilliant, creative ideas. I want to use Post-It dry erase whiteboard sheets on individual desks to provide them with this opportunity.
My suburban school serves 9-12th grade students who are steadily growing in population and diversity. A majority of my students are still uncomfortable recording and sharing their ideas, which is such an important communication skill. My goal is to prepare my students for the rigors of advanced high school courses, college, and the workforce by facilitating that necessary transition from middle school dependency to real-world preparedness.
I want to use Post-It dry erase sheets on individual desks as an innovative medium of communication in order to increase student engagement, transform our learning environment, and promote creative, collaborative opportunities in my classroom.
In addition, dry-erase sheets will maximize "work space" in the room and allow me to perform quick, formative assessments of students during any given lesson. Students will also be able to use their personal dry erase sheets to take notes, jot down ideas, illustrate certain concepts, and participate in gallery walks around the room to observe and comment on the thinking of their peers.
I am so excited to incorporate these new materials into our daily learning while simultaneously saving space in the classroom and encouraging student collaboration and communication.
My Project
I want my students to become masters at both verbal and nonverbal communication and obtain a necessary level of comfort when expressing their own ideas as well as responding to the ideas of their peers.
By using Post-It dry erase sheets on student desks, my goal is to provide my students with an opportunity to express themselves in a new way while exercising their creative genius and ability to collaborate with their classmates.
These dry erase sheets will not only maximize classroom space, but also allow them to participate in formative assessments and activities that branch out from their usual methods of educational communication. I am so excited to watch them interact with one another in this way!
