My Project

It is my goal to provide my students with a space that is both welcoming and functional. Doing so will enable students to feel comfortable and confident in themselves and their education, enabling them to be successful in their academic careers. While this is always important, this year it may be more important than ever before.

Our school is a Title 1 school.

Our students all receive free breakfast and lunch. Most come from low-income homes and a lot of them were directly affected by Hurricane Ian both at home and at school. Our students just returned from their second round of virtual learning this school year and have completed their first week back in the building. Ensuring that their classroom not only works for them but encourages them to be present is a vital part of their success for the remainder of the year.

I will use the materials on my list to provide a functional and engaging learning environment. For example, providing soft lighting, fans, and organizational furniture will ensure they have a clutter-free and comfortable learning environment and scissors and permanent markers will enable students to complete a student-favorite activity on poetry, Black Out Poetry.
