My Students

The students in my history class are brilliant. They are always eager to learn about the different events in global history. I also have the pleasure of teaching AVID—which means Advancement Via Individual Determination. These students signed up for this course to receive additional reading, writing, inquiry, and organization support. I also teach a leadership course where juniors and seniors work to help the freshmen in a smooth and successful transition into high school.

This quote inspires me as an educator every day to help push my students to become college-ready learners. My peer leaders have been working so hard since the beginning of the school year. Each week, they create a digital outreach and work to help their freshmen socially, emotionally, and academically.

My Project

The Positive Reinforcement Bin is geared toward improving student accountability and inspiration in the classroom! The idea of this project is to inspire students to improve their performance in the classroom by offering rewards for participation credit.

With increased participation- students' grades will improve!

Since the return from remote learning, many students struggle to participate and discuss in the classroom. The idea behind this bin is to track student participation and discussion in the classroom. With the idea of a prize, like snacks or fun pens or post-its, students will feel inclined to participate! This will improve both morale and their grades!

Celebrate Black teachers and kids! This project supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of students are Black.
