My Students
Our school is located in the heart of the Gulfmeadows Community and serves approximately 550 scholars from within this community. We are a Title I, PK-5 campus with an enrollment of 76% Hispanic students, 21% African American, 2% Caucasian, 1% Asian American with a 29% mobility rate. Our campus is 91% economically disadvantaged and 100% of our scholars receive free lunch. We serve 42% English Language Learners who are considered Limited English Proficient (LEP). My school was also recently affected by Hurricane Harvey.

My Project
I am requesting a treasure box and treats for my classroom to engage students in literacy and social studies. This will make it easier for the teacher to figure out learning gaps.
My student need multiple opportunities to be introduced to literature.
They will also have access to learning applications the district has purchased for literacy to improve fluency, accuracy, vocabulary, and reading comprehension. These incentives will help as we are preparing for the STAAR test. It is the state exam, and I want students to stay engaged because they have to prep for the test in addition to our regular curriculum.
