My students need six ergonomic stools to provide mobility while working. Students can place their feet on the ring and twist side-to-side freely to exert extra energy.
I currently teach 22 super energetic, fun-loving high school students with a variety of disabilities in our high school's resource classroom. These students are so excited to learn new skills and find careers that they will enjoy and be successful in, but they really struggle to stay focused.
Focusing with ADHD is a real problem for my students.
Many students come into my classroom saying their world is spinning and they can’t get it to stop. Some students require a quiet environment with minimal distraction in order to be able to work and concentrate on task, while many simply need to be able to move while working. Several of my students have the use of fidget hand tools as an accommodation on their Individualized Education Plan. We turn negative energy into positive energy to celebrate success in every student, every day.
My Project
Although the method and environment in which each student learns vary greatly. We strive to incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! However, ADHD, when not handled correctly makes learning an extreme challenge. These ergonomic stools will allow students to actively engage in the task at hand, while exerting their energy in twisting and turning motions while remaining in one spot to complete the task at hand. I am so lucky and thankful to have learners that are excited and ready to learn each year. These stools will allow the students to do just that!
