My Project

Our Students

Kirby Middle School is a Title I school located in Wichita Falls, TX, with 6-8th grade students.

The majority of our students are economically disadvantaged, with over 80% of our students qualify for the free & reduced lunch program. We are working hard to encourage positive behaviors on our campus and reward our students for doing the right thing. Some of our students never get the recognition that they need and deserve.

My Project

We have implemented a School-Wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Support (PBIS) plan this year. Through PBIS we encourage positive behaviors in our students and help them develop social skills to achieve their goals.

Our school's goal through PBIS is to promote positive behaviors not only through student name recognition but also rewarding them for their hard work. The snacks, Rubik's cubes, stress balls, fidgets, and pop-its are all things they work hard to earn. They are also truly motivated with the idea at the end of the year they could win headphones or ear buds based on their excellent behaviors and improvement of social skills throughout the school year.

We would like to use the incentives to show kids that not only does positive behavior make you feel good and do well in school, but you can also earn amazing things!
