Help me give my students a variety of rewards-fun pencils, erasers, and pens to help motivate them to display positive behavior in our school wide effort to implement PBIS.
Our school population consists of about 480 student in Kindergarten through fifth grade. We also have four Exceptional Children classes that consist of two Deaf and Hard of Hearing classes and two SED classes. In all of our classrooms, we implement PBIS-Positive Behavior Intervention Support.
PBIS is a multi-tiered approach to social, emotional, and behavior support that focuses on positive behaviors of the students.
PBIS improves social, emotional and academic outcomes for all students, including students with disabilities and students from underrepresented groups.
My Project
By teaching behavior expectations and rewarding students when they display them, it is a more positive approach then waiting for negative behavior to happen than responding. Every student has a chance to earn five Cardinal Cash tickets a day for displaying acts of being safe, caring, responsible, and respectful. Students then cash in these tickets every two weeks at our PBIS store for 25 ticket and 50 ticket prizes. The pencils, erasers, and pens from this project will be used as 50 ticket prizes.
The purpose of this is to motivate the students into doing the right thing and recognize students for meeting specific behavior expectations.
In order to motivate them, we need an assortment of prizes that students are interested in and willing to work towards achieving.
