Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

We are a low income/high poverty school with many students facing many challenges. Our students are very energetic but do not have many places to channel their energy.

We strive to make our school a place where all students feel safe and engaged.

Many of our students do well when helping their fellow classmates or taking on leaderships roles. Our school would like to promote positive behavior and teach our students the skills that they will continue to use throughout their life.

My Project

My project will be to start a school store! The school store will benefit the students and staff in many ways. The teachers will be given behavior bucks. The students will earn the behavior bucks to shop in the store. Students will learn a valuable lesson on how to spend and save money. They could buy little trinkets or save their money to buy something bigger.

Students will also be able to apply to work in the store.

This will be a valuable life lesson where the students will need to apply for a position and go on an interview. We will be reinforcing skills that will last a lifetime.
