Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Teaching young minds that will one day become our doctors, teachers, business owners, government officials, and members of our community is very rewarding. I have the pleasure of teaching 53 very different, unique, inquisitive and diverse students. My students come from varying economic backgrounds and face many challenges in and out of school.
My goal for them is to become productive members of our community and to be successful in whatever dream they choose to follow.
We will work this year to build the necessary skills and strategies that will be needed for success through primary school, secondary school, and life.
My Project
Half of my students are back in the classroom, but they must remain socially distant. It is very difficult to do hands-on science because each student needs their own set of supplies. Students cannot share supplies, which limits what we are able to do in class.
Learning through doing is one of the BEST teaching tools a teacher can give to her students.
My students will be exploring different types of magnets and how their invisible attractions work.
These materials will allow my students to get their own "kits" to explore the amazing properties of magnets. They will be using the different magnets to build a compass, compare the strength of different parts of a magnet, create magnet trains, test different materials for magnetic attraction, and create floating magnets.
