Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a middle school of approximately 410 sixth, seventh, and eighth-graders. About 70% of our students receive free or reduced-rate lunch. At 50% Hispanic, 20% African American, and 30% Caucasian, we are a diverse school community.

As a Title I school, our financial resources are limited, and creativity within the classroom environment is essential to tap into each student's individual learning style.

Providing the best learning environment and classroom experiences have been my mission as a science teacher over the last 16 years. I enjoy my students' enthusiasm and love of learning!

My Project

Even during this pandemic we can still give a little choice in where students will work within the classroom all while being fully safe and socially distanced. My science classroom is one and a half times as big as other classrooms and affords us this limited flexibility.

These collapsible small tables will help give students the freedom and flexibility to do schoolwork all while being safe and distanced.

Up to three students will be able to spread out in my room ("socially distanced" and safe) while giving some choice of where they will work. The tables are big enough for a Chromebook, mousepad, and paper/ area to write and do schoolwork.
