My students need a high quality portable piano for performances such as the Veteran's Day Assembly, Community Carol Sing, and Fine Arts Festival. My students will also be able to compose and arrange music.
My students are talented singers and musicians, constantly motivated to be the best they can be, and truly delightful to work with on a daily basis. They come from mostly rural areas and chorus at times is the only time they get to be creative and explore a subject that they find interesting and fun. My school is incredibly supportive of music and the arts as they promote a STEAM initiative in which the "A" stands for the arts. I firmly believe that my students are entitled to the very best in music education and with your support I can enhance my quality of instruction and give my students the best education possible.
My Project
My students come from an economically depressed, rural area in southern Westmoreland County. For many of them, the only exposure they get to quality music is through my chorus and general music classroom. For most of my students, they have never had the opportunity to see a world class symphony or a broadway show. I make it my personal goal to bring culture into their lives through the experiences they have in my classroom. My daily goal is to share with them the experiences that I was fortunate to have as a student.
With this portable digital piano, my students would be able to perform music throughout the school as well as around community for events such as the Veteran’s Day Assembly, Holiday Caroling at local assisted living centers, and for the Fine Arts Festival at our High School.
My students are like most students in that they are very excited about music and technology. The difficulty is that they do not always have the technology available to them. This piano would give them many new experiences in music including the sounds of hundreds of musical instruments, the ability to record multiple tracks including voices, and the even learn to play the piano.
