My first graders are brimming over with enthusiasm and excitement for learning, life, friends and interests. They make big plans, with big smiles and jump into projects with both feet, at a fast pace.
My first graders enthusiasm for learning and life is infectious and teaching them is an exciting and joyful experience over all.
However, this year has been extremely difficulty for them because many of them are living in temporary housing due to Hurricane Harvey. There has been lots of anxiety and worry due to Hurricane Harvey and school has been a safe place to come with all the rebuilding that is happening in Port Aransas Texas.
We are hoping to give parents financial relief from school supplies through this project. Port Aransas is still very much in recovery and giving parents much needed help this year would be a wonderful gift.
There are the basic supplies every first grade student is asked to bring at the beginning of the school year. As a first student, they need scissors, crayons, markers, glue, paints, play dough, construction paper, sharpened pencils, composition notebooks, 3 - ring binder and folders.
Please help the first grade students at Olsen Elementary school.
My Project
The items listed are school supplies needed for the 2018-2019 school year. For example, the composition notebooks are used for journal about a specific subject like writing about our reading. The 3-ring binder is for putting our poetry in. The play dough is for developed fine motor with our hands to help improve writing skills.
The markers and paper are for development of fine motor and developing our artistic skills.
The index cards is for learning our sight words and the zip lock bags are for storage of our sight words and our reading books.
All the supplies listed are items the parents would normally purchase but we are trying to assist the parents with Hurricane recovery due to many of the children are living in temporary housing.
