I teach second graders who are full of life, excitement, and curiosity. They are energetic and crafty.
Each year, my students are encouraged to be curious, explore, and examine possibilities.
I work to take my class from a group of individuals to one community of learners.
I will help my students develop a love for learning and the desire to become lifelong learners. I provide hands-on, projects and activity-based learning experiences for my students. I encourage play and help my students develop their creativity. I will also work to develop empathy and compassion in my students.
My Project
My students absolutely love pop it fidget toys. We will put that love to use in our spelling and phonics practice. The alphabet pop its will make a fun way to practice spelling whole group or during small group and individual practice time. The students can press the letters to spell out the words. Likewise, we can use the 100 chart pop-its to practice math. Several students struggle with skip counting. I am hopefully that this fun way to practice will help students hone in on the skip counting patterns.
Using something the students love as a learning tool will certainly help with engagement and with learning.
They will be beyond thrilled to see these materials pop up on their desks!
