While all students do not learn the same way, ALL students can learn and be successful using technology to learn skills necessary in the 21st century. My classroom has a wide range of ability levels. Some of the students do not speak English well. Some have a wide range of learning abilities. I strongly believe using technology is one of the most effective ways to differentiate learning as well as reduce behavior problems. Approximately 70% of the students eat free lunch. Most are living below the poverty level. Only a small percentage have computers in the home, making technology very limited. All of the students are eager to learn and have unlimited potential to be successful.
My students come to school full of life and ready to learn! Just like adults get tired of sitting in hard chairs all day, students do too! They need more flexible/comfortable seating options to enhance student engagement and learning. Studies show that students learn better when they are physically active and comfortable. Students are able to bounce on an exercise ball, sit, stand, kneel, etc.
Some of the seating options that will be provided with this project are a couch with lap desks.
These options will give my students the opportunity to sit comfortably and move around while they are learning.
This project would significantly help my students stay engaged in our learning throughout the day. I want them to feel comfortable and at home in our classroom. I cannot wait to see all of the things we can do with flexible seating!
