Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Help us put color to our creations!

The first unit in my STEM class each semester is 3D modeling and design using Tinkercad.

What on Earth does this have to do with acrylic paints?

3D modeling allows students to take their ideas and turn them into a physical reality via our school's 3D printing lab.

Students are often surprised when their 3D models print out in a single color, and not the colors that they had designed in Tinkercad. The nature of most 3D printers is that they only print in a single color. The transference of the 3D model with all of the student's imagined colors into a single color is a powerful lesson for our students as they move between digital and physical models. And many of our students are disappointed with the outcome, as their incredible creations do not print out as they intended.

Acrylic paint is an easy, albeit messy, way to polychrome our monochromatic prints!

I'll provide the cleanup; would you provide the paint?
