Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We have been creating a school garden and have started to see all the caterpillars on the dill. It is exciting to watch them get bigger as they eat. The last time I went to water the plants, there were swallowtail butterflies fluttering in the sunshine! The students would like to create a butterfly garden with caterpillar host plants and pollinator plants. This would include the soil for planting, seeds, and caterpillar houses for milkweed and monarchs. We already have the raised beds and butterfly lifecycle kits for lessons. The students love the hands-on STEM projects and even visit them during recess.
