We are a Title I school and many students receive free lunch. Our ESL needs are growing and so our kids. Our ESL population is has almost doubled, because of boundary changes. The majority of the students are Spanish speaking. Although our school made it through Hurricane Harvey, many are struggling to rebuild.
I have newcomers, or students who are new to the country for less than a year.
How much exposure to the English language varies with each student. My job is help inspire them to learn, grow and see the tremendous value in becoming bilingual.
I'm always exploring different ways to bring visuals into my classroom for my ELL learners. Visuals inspire them!
I will use the Fujifilm Instax Mini 9 Instant Camera to take students pictures to celebrate them in my classroom.
I want to capture moments, as well as, have the ability to use a Polaroid camera during lessons to inspire student engagement and learning. I want to model how to create a photo story using Polaroids. It could be about self, family, pets, interests or inspiration. To protect the camera I'm also asking for a Katia Camera Case Bag. Photos can be displayed in the Mini Photo Album.
This camera would not just be for me, but for students to use. For example, students will take pictures outside to capture nature and then create a poem. I believe pictures help them write with more detail.
