Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Fourth grade integrated co-teaching classroom. Our students are an enthusiastic group of students who are learning life lessons! There are two teachers in our classroom. A special education teacher and a general education teacher. We also have many wonderful support staff in and out of our room all day.

We have 32 super motivated Fourth grade students who love to learn.

Our environment is made up of a community of learners who love to explore new ideas. We love to learn!

My Project

Our class cannot wait to read Heartbeat by Sharon Creech! In this novel told though a series of poems, Annie begins to experience changes: the birth of her baby brother, her friend Max's decision to join the track team, and her grandfather's memory loss.

We also want to read Prince Puggly of Spud and the Kingdom of Spiff!

Prince Puggly of the muddy, terminally unfashionable Kingdom of Spud is surprised when he receives an invitation to a lavish ball in the far more chic Kingdom of Spiff. Puggly is sure that the Spiffs will take one look at him and laugh him out of their kingdom. And that’s exactly what they do. . . . But then Puggly meets Francesca, the bookish Princess of Spiff, and together the two set out to teach Francesca’s Spiffian countrymen an absurd lesson in style. Award-winning author Robert Paul Weston once again delivers a humorous fantasy in rhyming verse that just begs to be read aloud. And this time, it comes with a message that’s sure to impress: There’s more to a person than how they are dressed.

These books will help us learn and build our reading fluency!
