I am a sixth grade Math and Science teacher in the heart of Indiana. My wonderful class is a mix of general education and ESL. Students in my classroom are inquisitive, daring, compassionate, and creative. They love to learn through hands on activities and motion. Sixth grade is one of those grades that learn through the newest trends out there, they thrive when they can relate to the curriculum on a personal level. I am always striving to make my math and science lessons relevant to their life and world.
My ESL students flourish in an environment that provides real world activities and that provide connections to their culture.
In order to be successful my ESL students need lessons that are translatable, allow technology integration, and allow for self expressions.
My sixth graders are inquisitive students who strive and preserver to reach their full potential. It is my personal goal to continue to modify and grow my lessons so that my students are receiving the best education possible with the best tools that I can provide. I strive to incorporate a variety of learning strategies to meet the learning styles of each of my students.
Creating podcasts in my classroom will be very beneficial to my students. Podcasts have a variety of classroom benefits. Students will be working on strengthening skills in research, writing, collaboration, presentation, planning, deeper knowledge on materials, and many more. Students will be using the recording materials to create different podcasts on math, science, social studies, and language arts topics. My students will benefit by becoming proficient enough on topics that they can share them with the world. When you can teach material you know the material.Podcasts also allow students to share opinions on topics and take ownership for their ideas. We will be having debates using podcasts, ads to express designs that they have engineered, and having discussions on topics that are relevant to my kids. In order to be successful students need to feel that their thoughts and opinions are valued.
