My Students

"I can't find my pencil." "I had my dry erase marker yesterday." "My binder won't fit in my desk!" "Where is my sock to erase my dry erase board?" "Can I go to my locker to get more glue?" This is what I hear DAILY.

My kiddos are low-income bilingual students whom are still attaining English.

All are on free or reduced lunch. These kids are smart, yet are lacking vocabulary and reading strategies to read on level; my average reading level is mid-second grade in fourth grade. They love to be read to and LOVE going to the library.

My Project

My goal is to have durable chair pockets for my kids to store their materials. I currently have sacks that were made out of pillowcases, and they are starting to tear from wear. My kiddos love their current purple sacks, but they aren't able to store enough in them.

The sacks will allow my students to be organized and have their supplies readily available.

These pockets have a smaller compartment, which would be perfect for their highlighters, dry erase sock, pencils, and dry erase marker--items that are often lost and used frequently. We are in a self contained class and have several notebooks/journals and the bigger compartment will allow the kids to organize their desks to readily access materials, reducing transition and increasing instruction!
