My Students

My kindergarten rockstars are a kind, curious bunch who come to school every day eager to learn. Our school is the largest elementary school in the largest city in our state. We have an amazing community of students, staff, and parents who work together to educate our children. Students come from a variety of cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, and, currently, approximately 65% qualify for free or reduced-price lunches.

In our classroom, we work hard to build a community where each student is celebrated and their story is valued.

Our diverse school community focuses on fostering leadership and supporting students in building social-emotional skills. We love our community and are constantly seeking ways to spread kindness.

My Project

Our school recently adopted a new intervention program to help all of our students become better readers. This program provides phonics charts that students will use daily. In order to minimize the sharing of materials and to keep our students healthy and in school, we are hoping to provide sheet protectors for these charts. Sheet protectors will make the charts easy to wipe down when needed and will also help them last the whole year.

As students continue learning through a pandemic, finding ways to help students strengthen their reading skills is more important than ever.

Our school is using the Science of Reading to help build these skills by providing what each student needs during a daily intervention block.

With your help, we will be able to make this time run a bit more smoothly by providing sheet protectors for students in grades K-4 to hold the phonics charts they are working on. This provides an individual copy for each child, makes them easy to wipe down to keep the germs away, and helps to protect them to make them last longer. Sometimes the simple things can make a big impact. Thank you for supporting our students and their learning!
