I teach in a small academy style district elementary school. Our school's focus is Personalized Learning and PRIDE in our efforts. My students are fifth graders and they are between 10 and 11 years old. My students are enthusiastic learners who love to dialogue with each other, share ideas, and actively engage in their learning.
My students are always excited to learn new things and participate in school activities.
This year my students have the opportunity to become the "big kids" on campus and step up into new responsibilities. This is the first grade level that in which they will experience departmentalized learning. In my classroom, students will be learning Math and Science.
My Project
My 5th graders are currently learning about Animal cell and Plant cell. Their similarities and differences! I am hoping to wrap this learning into a life long memory, and keep sake. In this project students will outline, draw and color in models of cells on full size Shrinky Dink paper. Then the students will watch as we bake the paper and watch it shrink down into keychain size! At the end of the project students will have a memory as well as something they can keep to remember.
Mixing Science and Art together, can make a more meaningful learning experience.
