My Students

My students have autism spectrum disorder (ASD). As a result, they have unique learning needs. Students with autism learn better with pictures and demonstrations. Because of this I am in need of a pocket chart and stand. This equipment will enable me to provide engaging and accessible lessons every day!

My Project

Pocket charts can be used in many different ways to support the development of a wide variety of skills. Each week our classroom has a new word of the week. We tie this word into all of our activities across curriculum areas. This pocket chart will help students work daily with their words and access them in a meaningful way.

Visuals are imperative for students with autism because they are a primary form of communication.

Students will be able to manipulate their sentence strips and other visuals, making essential connections by working hands-on with the materials.
