My students need a variety of pocket charts to use during literacy centers and math calendar.

Long gone are the days where worksheets are used in our Kindergarten classroom. The majority of our day is spent working in literacy centers and using real life materials at our math calendar. Keeping the children interested in these centers is a daily challenge that I happily accept.
My students this year are wonderful.
They are hardworking, happy, adventurous, silly and love to laugh. We spend most of our day doing hands-on activities, signing, dancing and using anything else I can think of to make our learning environment fun. We are one of three Kindergarten rooms at our school. We are a Charter School in Illinois. We have an extended day and an extended school year. For my little ones its a long day of work with no nap. That's why trying new products and new teaching techniques is so important to me. The more of a variety I have in our day the more successful my children are.
Having a variety of pocket charts will give the students a chance to work hands-on during their literacy centers and daily math calendar. We spend close to 60 minutes a day in centers. A center focuses on one skill and five students will work on that skill together. Creating intriguing and stimulating centers can be a challenge. Using the pocket charts is a great day to let them manipulate cards, words, pictures or money to increase their understanding of a topic. Currently we have a few charts in our room and the kids usually fight over them. These new recourses will be used by every student through out the year and for years to come.
Donating to our classroom will help us to receive new hands-on learning activities.
Through these activities my students will get a deeper understanding of literacy skills (sounding out words, spelling, rhyming, and more) as well as math skills (money). I believe that when children are given a variety of learning materials that they will become life long learners and develop a love to learning for their entire lives.
