Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are outstanding kids who are striving to get a high school diploma and an Associate’s degree. Most of them take at least four college courses each semester along with high school classes. The majority of the students are first-generation college-bound students who work diligently to maintain high grades and balance the high school experience.
About 60 percent are economically disadvantaged, but my students want to be productive citizens in this society.
Part of their curriculum is taking a dual credit English class where they are able to get college credit and high school credit at the same time. In this class, my students are able to discuss current events, think critically about world issues, and write about a variety of topics.
Most of my students come from low-income homes, so getting supplies can be very difficult. In addition, some of my students were affected by Hurricane Harvey and are still recovering from that horrific weather-related storm.
My Project
Our school is 1:1 so that each student has their own laptop. We are in need of more plugs so students can plug up their devices so that they can do their online assignments. In addition, our student desks have a whiteboard on them where students can write on them or work out problems. The extra Expo markers will give students the means to work on assignments without pulling out paper or pen.
These items are essential for the 21st century classroom so that students can have different ways to plan and process their learning.
Having these supplies will insure that students are able to work in class on a daily basis.
