Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Gary Paulsen and James Patterson have been entertaining readers for years. Help introduce my students to these accomplished authors with this project.
A snapshot of our middle school shows a diverse high-need school comprised of about 1,100 students in grades six to eight.
Half of our student population receives free or reduced priced lunch. Approximately half of our students receive support services in addition to their core classes. Many of our students are not native English speakers. The students have all been impacted by Hurricane Sandy.
My Project
James Patterson and Gary Paulsen share a shelf in our school library. The problem we have is that the shelf is barren. The books we have from these authors fly off the shelf and the waiting lists are too long. Please help my students see new library books come into their library from established authors.
When I have a child excited about a book or an author I want to get that book into their hands as soon as I can before the spark of excitement and curiosity goes away.
Please help me keep the spark bright with these books.
