My Students

My students, grades second through fourth, are ferocious learners. They have all been identified Gifted, yet their strengths are in all areas of learning. Some have a love of math while other always have their nose in a book. Some love the outdoors and have a natural interest in nature and others are curious about how things work and will take things apart and put them back together...With no left over parts. The one thing they all have in common is their curiosity about the world around them.

My Project

I want to be able to offer to my students flexibility in seating choices to be able to do their best. I want my class to be a place where students feel safe to make choices, including how or where they choose to sit. Many students have issues that make it hard for them to stay on task without distracting others around them or the whole class. Given different seating options is one way we can address these issues.

I have found that after sitting all day in a classroom, given the opportunity to have flexible seating students are able to have better focus and more energy.
