My students need a carpet for read alouds, whole group lessons and daily math calendar activities.

Being in an older building, our maintenance team has told us that our carpet is being tore up this summer. I love to read aloud to my kids and I am fearful that we won't have those read aloud times if we have no carpet. I am hopeful that with your support I can get this new carpet for my kids.
This year I have a great group of first graders.
They are very outgoing and extremely smart and hard working. Their favorite part of the day is listening to me read them Junie B Jones books. Literacy is a big part of our day and is a big focus in our school. We are a charter school on the south side of Chicago that has been around for over seven years. I have very active parents within my room and for that I am very grateful. I truly love my school and my class. I have a passion for teaching that will never go away.
In first grade my students are learning how to sit at their own desk for the first time. The best part of our day is when we can sit together on the carpet to listen to a story, discuss our day or do our daily math calendar. Right now we sit on the carpet that has been there for years. It is taped up with duct tape, has rips that go from wall to wall and is a distraction to the kids. Knowing that we are about to sit on a tile floor makes me sad that my kids won't have a comfortable spot to sit on. The new carpet I am requesting for my class will give us a place to call home. It will encourage the kids to sit or lay down and grab a book to read. WIth your help we can have an inviting, safe and positive place to begin to foster the love of reading.
Outside every classroom there is a sign that tells us when our students will graduate from college.
In 2022 my sweet little First Graders will be college graduates. Knowing that I am the beginning of their educational journey and the room I set up for them and the lessons I teach will mold them for the rest of their lives. Having your support will help me to give my kids the best learning environment possible.
