My Students

My second grade class is a diverse group of students who are excited to learn in a welcoming environment. I teach for the largest district in our state. We are not a Title I school, so funding is limited. We have about 770 students enrolled in our school.

My Project

My students were provided an iPad and pair of headphones from the district. Unfortunately 10/23 students in my classroom have reported that their headphones no longer work. I've requested additional headphones, but it's not in our district budget at the time.

Some students' families were able to purchase new headphones with microphones, but many students are going without right now.

Some of my students are fully remote and are required to videotape and record themselves doing various tasks including singing for the music teacher. We have a reading program that records the students read each week. Every week, my students without the headphones get an error message, "Please raise your hand and ask your teacher for help." I can't help my students until I get them headphones with a microphone.
