My Students

Parents send us the best that they have. Although many of my students face unique challenges every day before they even come into my classroom, they come in eager to learn. Most of my students live in poverty, and their parents hope that their child's education will lead to a better future. Ninety-eight percent of my students come from minority backgrounds, with fifty percent being English Language Learners.

Many kindergartners have not had a preschool experience, and I want to do my best to make it a fantastic year for them.

My Project

With all the budget cuts to education, teachers are allotted a small number of copies for the entire school year.

As we move more toward a technology world, students are expected to read online stories through programs such as Raz Kids, but not all students have access to internet or computers.

I need ink and paper to print books for my students to have take home leveled readers that they can keep and read over and over again.

Many students enjoy holding books and turning pages as they learn to read. Because young children learn through hands on experiences books are an important resource. I plan to print books based on my students individual reading level and interest to increase a love for reading.
