Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Do you remember having a difficult time focusing in class because your stomach was growling or because you were thirsty? My 1st graders are always requesting drinks and food.
I currently teach 27 very sweet first graders in a Title I school located in a high poverty and high crime area in Pennsylvania.
All of my students receive free breakfast and free lunch. Many of my students come from homes where English is not spoken.
My Project
I would love to be able to provide my students with healthy snacks and drinks in order to help them stay better focused on their studies. In addition, I would like to give them drinks in class in order to reduce the amount of time that they are leaving class to go get a drink. I am also requesting cups for our drinks as well as paper towels in order to wipe up spills.
Every afternoon, I notice that my students tend to get sleepy and unfocused.
In order to keep them more alert and tend to their studies better, I would love to be able to offer them healthy snacks and drinks. Please keep my first graders well nourished and hydrated.
