I teach second grade at Burgaw Elementary in North Carolina. I love teaching here because of our population. We serve a large percent of free or reduced lunch, and we are located in a rural area. The kids desperately need assistance wherever possible. Next year I will be teaching a very low achieving academic class. My goal is to have them surpass everyone's expectations as well as to prepare them for third grade. Therefore I am asking for a Multiple Skills-Primary Set. The set is proven to improve and build comprehension skills. The series uses updated reading selections and engaging artwork. The set consists of twelve different books. The set covers nine essential skills including meanings of words, following directions, using context, locating the answer, getting the main idea, drawing conclusions, detecting the sequence, and identifying inferences. This series has proven successful for regular, below-level, and at-risk students, which describes my class. This set would be a wonderful resource tool for myself as well as the other teacher I team with. Anything that can help my students achieve success is worth asking for.
