Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Fourth graders have stepped up to solve a problem at our school. We've found dead birds under some of our large glass windows and have heard the dreaded thud in more than one classroom. It is time to do something about it.
This project is problem solving and doing good in the world.
It also reinforces some of the science content knowledge for light and reflection. Students are surveying classrooms to determine where we should target our interventions. They are also researching about birds and how to prevent the collisions, including reaching out to a local bird club. I also researched the collision problem and that is what brings me here to Donors Choose. I want to have some supplies on hand that the students will be able to allocate for the high risk locations that they've determined. We can then install our products together with our principal's permission.
