My Students

My students are eager learners whom thrive on collaborative, project based learning. We are learning to read and write for meaning and develop our own ideas and opinions of famous events and literature in American history, both current and historical.

My students are a diverse group of urban kids with a variety of cultural and economic backgrounds.

Over half of my students are English language learners, some of whom are have arrived in the country this year. They are determined, hard working kids that see each day as a new opportunity to learn.

My Project

With this donation my students will be able to engage in group reading. They will be able to analyze and discuss characters, drama, dialogue, climax and much more! The reading kits will be used in small groups, where students can, read, listen, and discuss the chapters as they go along. They will also be able to complete reading logs and vocabulary journals with the reading activity kit. Lastly the theater kits will encourage students to enjoy reading and acting all while learning.

With these materials my students will gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for literature.

This appreciation will then lead to a stronger focus on their own writing as well.
