My students need headphones so they can participate in text-to-speech programs on the computers. The computer mice will make it easier for some students to use these programs.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach a classroom with eight students with autism. A typical day in my classroom involves independent learning, reading, math, learning centers, direct instruction, circle time, social skills, and sensory breaks.
My students have mild to severe forms of autism and all have unique needs.
They are amazing and are learning something new every day. Our school is a small neighborhood school in an inner city. The students love to come to school to learn and interact with their peers.
My Project
My students all have access to speech-to-text accommodations in all areas, including reading. With the population that I work with, it is vital that my students receive all of the accommodations that are provided to them. Unfortunately, without headphones, this is not possible.
The access to headphones in my classroom will open up a lot of doors for my students, including the ability to use speech-to-text and increase media literacy.
I will be able to expose my students to many new ways to learn using technology. In addition, the time when my students are reading independently on MyOn will allow me to work with the other students in small groups or one-on-one.
