Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The majority of my students come from a low socioeconomic background. Many of my students have parents who have not graduated high school much less gone to college. Most of my students have special education services or are not native English speakers. I believe in holding the bar high for my students in order for them to see that they can accomplish what they want to do. I believe in having my students do high quality laboratory experiments. This is the best way to allow my students to understand they can succeed. They will find it in themselves to reach whatever bar I set for them.
My Project
This is the first year my school is offering advanced placement chemistry. The course requirements are 21 laboratory experiments throughout the year. I am in need of help with funding the last of the labs my students need to accomplish to be successful in this college course. These laboratory experiments are high level college quality experiences for my students. My students have never experienced this level of lab. When my students pass the advanced placement test in May, they will receive 6 hours of college credit for college chemistry. I thank you for all of your generosity for my students.
