Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are part of a Title I school that is populated with many rural area children with very diverse backgrounds. Their exposure to the world of science is very limited. They do love learning, but resources are very limited.

My Project

We were finally able to make sure that all students were able to get the technology they needed by handing out Chromebooks to each student who needed one. It was more important than ever for me to be there for my students everyday, even if it was only through Google Meet and Zoom. My students needed me to give them some semblance of a routine and normalcy each and everyday.

My laptop and digital devices became the most important things during this unprecedented time in education.

On days that it didn't work properly, froze or shut down, my students suffered. Even though there were no hugs, high fives, or constant reassurance and encouragement, it was comforting to at least see each other. Much of the technology that we use requires software that is not compatible with my current laptop.

My current laptop is too old for any new updates. It takes a long time to load new information and software, and it has difficulty connecting with external devices. If I want to be successful and create meaningful lessons for my students, while using the most updated and newest technology, a new laptop is the answer.

Thank you for all your support and giving me the opportunity to be there for my students. I look forward to using this laptop to create highly engaging and technologically sound lessons.
