Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ever hear of a Pre-k class with no centers? Centers are essential to learning for Pre-k students so they can apply their learning in a fun way. My classroom is greatly lacking in centers and DonorsChoose could really change that for our students.
Well, that's us.
I teach at a Title I school in Porter, Texas. Our school serves children who come from homes that speak a language other than English as well as students who are on free or reduced lunches. This also means that our students are limited on their materials and what they have available at home. Having limited materials here at school too makes it difficult for our students to have many of the experiences that other students normally have available.
My Project
My students would like to have a dollhouse in our classroom to be able to learn how to play and pretend with each other. This will give them a place where they can express themselves freely. This center would also help them learn and extend their English vocabulary in a fun center. They would also like a stand up magnetic center with jumbo shapes. At this center they would be able to use their imagination and create a variety of things with the shapes. Shapes are one of the prek guideline requirements so this will help them master those skills. They would also like to get some dinosaurs and a magnetic alphabet puzzle.
I'm desperate for centers in my room so my kids can apply the skills we learn in a tactile and fun way.
