This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Imagine having to learn by sitting on a cold tile floor. That is what my Kindergarten students are facing right now. The current carpet that we have in the classroom for use during circle time is in very poor condition, despite it being steam cleaned many times. Please help if you can!!
I have a classroom of 25 very diverse students including Kurdish, Hispanic and American.
They are all Title 1 students and come from very poor families in TN. Most of their supplies I have to purchase with my own money. They are so eager to learn and I do everything I can to give them the very best education possible with the limited resources that I have available.
My Project
My students are in Kindergarten so we gather daily on the carpet for morning meeting and many whole group class times. Currently they are sitting on a carpet that is in very poor condition. It is very worn and they pick at the fraying parts during lesson rather than being engaged in what I am teaching.
I am only a second year teacher and this will be my first year in Kindergarten.
I have such limited funds with which to purchase all of the things that I need for my classroom. The school system only provides $200 a year to purchase EVERYTHING that I need for all of my students. That does not go very far. I do not want these kids to have to sit on the cold tile all year long. If you can help you will be making such a huge difference in the lives of 25 little four and five year olds! Thanks
